I was a huge fan of formula one, especially everything about Michael Schumacher. When I was in junior high school around 2001, I even pray to God and hoping Schumi will win F1 at least 7 times so everybody will always remember him for his unbreakable record. At that time, Schumi still won 4 times, which was still under Juan Manuel Fangio who won 5 times. And when Schumi finally won 7 times, I guess God really heard my prayer :')
Since entering college, I rarely watch F1 due to my campus activities. So when my traveling partner offer me to watch F1 with him, I was hesitate at first since I'm no longer update with F1 race but remembering it was my childhood madness, so I decided to watch the real F1 race.

On the race day, everything around the circuit was using F1 theme. Including the Lego exhibition in Raffles City mall that showing some Ferrari cars made by Lego. They're amazing.

We bought the cheapest ticket, which is the Zone 4 Walkabout. Based on my experience, if you have more money to be spent, you better buy the Grandstand ticket, because it means you will be able to sit and enjoy the race with better view, especially if you short like me. Since my purpose was just to feel the real atmosphere of F1 racing, so walkabout ticket still acceptable for me.
We came early to the racing place. After passing the entrance checking, we bought earplug and raincoat to ensure our ear will be safe. But after I bought it, honestly, I realized that I don't need any earplug, since the sound of machine is all I wanted to hear. Well, they said the money from earplug and raincoat selling will be donated, so let it be.
At that time the sun shines so brightly, so the weather is hot and humid. Which means it's time for Ice Cream! haha.. I bought Co+Nut+Ink ice cream nearby Esplanade building. I saw this product in instagram and I wondered how it really taste. I bought Premium Dessert and it taste so good, especially if you eat it while seating towards Singapore Strait like what I did.

When 16.30 comes, we directly went to Esplanade Park Stage to see the performance of Drum Cat. A drummer group which consist of 5 beautiful ladies from South Korea. I wondered why they're so energetic while wearing leather pants in a humid weather like that. Their performances were fun tho.

Paying ticket for F1 racing doesn't mean you only pay ticket for the race, but also for performances and entertainment that you can enjoy before and after the race, which was great, because it includes ticket to watch Jennifer Lopez concert. But I'll tell more about it later.
At 17.00, we went back to the track side, and watch the Porche Carrera Cup Asia Race.

Before the race, I wondered where are the people, seated, since the race will start at 8 p.m. So we start walking around the Walkabout Zone, and found that many people are seating and resting in The Padang field. It really looks like a picnic places since people are seating comfortably while eating some snacks and drinking beers.

At 18.30, there's F1 drivers' track parade. This parade was made me excited because finally I can see Kimi Raikkonen, Jenson Button, , Lewis Hamilton, Fernando Aloso, and Filipe Massa with my own eyes. They're seating on classic cars and wiving to the audiences outside the track.
It's Fernando Alonso! |

Some stages are provided for the audience in Walkabout zone |
Finally the main race started ta 20.00. When all those super fast cars passed by our sight, every start to be photographers. Honestly, it super hard to get a good picture of F1 car while they're run. So you better just watch and enjoy the show.

We didn't stay at one place while watching the race, instead, we walked around and explore the walkabout zone, and found some entertainment booths like F1 Pit Stop Challenge and complimentary tattoo booths.

Tired with walking and we end up watching the race through huge monitor. To be honest, it's more enjoyable to watch the race through monitor because you stay updated with anything that happened on the race.

Marina Bay Sands view from Esplanade Bridge. It seems like a new bride is being build nearby Esplanade Bridge. |
Before the race end, we walk to the track near Padang field. At that time we saw the security was yelling to some foreigners who climb up the tree to get better view. The mad security said, "get down now, you're not monkeys!" LOL.

This time I got better view of the race and better understanding related what's happening on the track (from watching the monitor) so the race become more interesting for me. And when the race end and Lewis Hamilton become the winner, suddenly the fireworks start sparking at the sky.
now the Ferrari photo seems clearer |
After watching the fireworks, we directly went to Padang Stage to watch Jenifer Lopez. From the monitor in the Padang Stage, we still can watch Lewis Hamilton interviewed on the podium. And after waiting for about an hour or more, finally J.Lo come out and gave amazing show. Her songs are always catchy, so we can easily sing along during her show.

J.Lo is super good in show her asset. Yes, I mean her booty. For women at her age, her body is amazing and so fit. Her voice also sounds better during the live show compared to what I usually watch on tv. No wonder she's a diva.
XOXO,
The Tourist
